Description
Domaine Muré’s Clos St Landelin Rosé Crémant d'Alsace Brut is a meticulously crafted sparkling rosé that shows just how elegant Alsace crémant can be. Made from Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder), it combines a beautifully painted rosé hue with an extremely fine, persistent mousse that immediately signals quality in the glass. This non-vintage cuvée reflects the long sparkling tradition of Alsace while offering a distinctly modern, pure and dry style that has earned strong praise from European wine guides.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Crémant d’Alsace presents a luminous, delicately shaded rosé color with a very fine, steady stream of bubbles. The nose is initially a touch restrained before opening to subtle, refined aromas of wild strawberries, red cherry and a hint of redcurrant, underpinned by a gentle, discreet spice.
On the palate, it is slim, taut and crystal-clear in its fruit expression, with a focus on fresh red berries—strawberry and red cherry in particular—framed by vibrant acidity and a low, well-judged dosage that keeps the wine dry and impeccably balanced rather than sweet or cloying. The mousse is exceptionally fine and creamy, giving a sense of polish and sophistication. A faint, appetizing bitterness on the finish lends structure and length, while a delicate, spicy note lingers on the palate. Enjoyed now for its freshness and precision, it will hold well for several years, gaining a little more roundness and complexity with short-term cellaring.
Production
Sourced from the celebrated Clos St Landelin in southern Alsace, this rosé crémant reflects a patchwork of limestone- and marl-rich soils that lend both tension and finesse to Pinot Noir. The domaine is known for careful, quality-focused viticulture, typically including hand-harvesting to ensure only perfectly ripe and healthy grapes reach the press. For crémant, the bunches are gently pressed to obtain a pale rosé must with fine, delicate color and minimal phenolic extraction. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled conditions to preserve bright, primary fruit. The wine then undergoes a traditional second fermentation in bottle and extended aging on the lees, building texture, complexity and that extremely fine mousse before disgorgement and a restrained brut dosage.
Food & Serving
This Rosé Crémant d’Alsace Brut is a versatile partner at the table, pairing beautifully with poultry dishes—think roast chicken with herbs, guinea fowl, or turkey—as well as charcuterie, salmon tartare, sushi, and lightly spiced Asian cuisine. It also shines as an aperitif, especially with canapés or delicate finger foods. Serve well-chilled at around 6–8°C to highlight its freshness and fine bubbles. A brief opening in the glass is sufficient; decanting is not necessary, but pouring into proper sparkling wine flutes or tulip-shaped glasses will best showcase its aromatic finesse and persistent mousse.
