Description
Domaine Muré’s Clos St Landelin Crémant d’Alsace Prestige Bio is a refined organic sparkling wine that shows just how impressive Alsace Crémant can be beyond the borders of Champagne. Crafted from a blend of traditional Alsatian varieties and Pinot grapes, it offers depth, elegance and a distinct house style. Built on a solera of multiple vintages and extended lees aging, this non-vintage cuvée delivers complexity, harmony and a truly gastronomic character.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Crémant d’Alsace presents a pale straw to light golden hue, animated by a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is layered yet restrained, opening with fresh apple and zesty citrus, followed by yellow stone fruit and a subtle exotic touch, all underpinned by delicate brioche and nutty nuances from extended lees contact.
On the palate, it is juicy and precise, with a beautifully refined perlage that gives the wine a silky, almost creamy texture. Ripe orchard fruit, citrus peel and hints of tropical and red fruits are intertwined with roasted nut and pastry notes, creating a complex but beautifully balanced profile. The finish is long, clean and remarkably harmonious, with a mineral edge that invites another sip. While designed to be enjoyed now for its freshness and vibrancy, the structure and lees character suggest it can develop additional complexity over the next 3–5 years if properly cellared.
Production
Sourced from the historic Clos St Landelin and surrounding estate vineyards in Alsace, this Crémant reflects a cool, sunny terroir of limestone and clay that naturally preserves acidity and aromatic precision. The grapes—Auxerrois, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc—are organically farmed and hand-harvested to ensure pristine fruit and gentle handling. Vinification follows the traditional method: the base wines are created using a solera-style system, blending several vintages to build layered complexity, then the cuvée undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle. The wine rests a minimum of 18 months on fine lees in tank, followed by at least another 18 months in bottle before disgorgement, yielding a refined mousse and impressive depth without sacrificing elegance.
Food & Serving
This is a versatile, food-friendly Crémant that shines with refined but not overly heavy dishes. Pair it with oysters, scallop carpaccio, sushi and sashimi, or classic Alsatian fare such as tarte flambée, pâtés en croûte and mild munster or soft-ripened cheeses. It also complements roast poultry, veal in cream sauce, or mushroom and hazelnut-based vegetarian dishes. Serve well-chilled at 7–10 °C (45–50 °F) to highlight its freshness and fine mousse. A brief 10–15 minutes in the glass or a quick, gentle splash into a chilled decanter can help the bouquet fully unfurl, especially if you’re serving it with more complex dishes.
Producer
Domaine Muré, guardian of the famed Clos St Landelin at the southern end of Alsace near Rouffach, is one of the region’s most respected family estates, with roots dating back to 1650. Over generations, the Muré family has become synonymous with meticulous vineyard work on steep, terraced sites and an unwavering commitment to expressing terroir. Their conversion to organic and biodynamic principles underscores a philosophy of balance and respect for the land, and the Clos St Landelin monopole is considered one of Alsace’s benchmark vineyards. Domaine Muré’s Crémants, regularly praised in guides such as Vinum and the Crémant d’Alsace Guide, have helped elevate Alsace sparkling wine to a serious, world-class alternative to Champagne.
