Description
Domaine Méo-Camuzet Richebourg Grand Cru 2008 is a majestic Burgundy that brings together power, finesse, and the cool, precise character of the 2008 vintage. From one of Vosne-Romanée’s most revered Grand Cru vineyards, it offers the kind of depth and distinction collectors look for in top-tier Pinot Noir.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an intense ruby core with the first hints of garnet at the rim, reflecting both concentration and early maturity. The nose is layered and seductive, opening with dark cherry, blackcurrant, and plum, followed by violet, rose petal, truffle, forest floor, spice, and a subtle touch of toasted oak.
The palate is powerful yet beautifully silky, with dense, ripe tannins and vibrant acidity keeping the fruit fresh and focused. Flavours unfold in waves of dark chocolate, liquorice, earthy undergrowth, and a marked mineral edge, leading to a long, precise, and elegant finish with a gentle spicy note. This is a wine with excellent aging potential and can continue to evolve gracefully for 15–20 years or more.
Production
Richebourg Grand Cru is one of Burgundy’s most prestigious vineyards, known for producing deeply structured, intensely aromatic Pinot Noir with remarkable refinement. The 2008 vintage in the region delivered wines of classical balance and freshness, and this bottling reflects that style with its poise, energy, and layered complexity. Vinification at Domaine Méo-Camuzet emphasizes purity, precision, and respect for the character of the vineyard.
Food & Serving
This is a superb match for game, roast beef, duck, or dishes with truffles and mushrooms, where its depth and earthy complexity can really shine. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for one to two hours if drinking now to allow the wine to fully open and show its aromatic range.
