Description
Domaine Méo-Camuzet Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2008 is a beautifully poised Burgundy that showcases both the elegance of Pinot Noir and the depth of one of the region’s most celebrated Grand Cru sites. The 2008 vintage brings a particularly refined balance of freshness and concentration, while Méo-Camuzet’s polished style adds precision, complexity, and a notably graceful finish.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby colour with violet reflections, hinting at its youthful energy and concentration. The nose unfolds with ripe cherries, blackcurrant and plum, layered with violet, leather, spice, and a subtle touch of toasted oak.
On the palate, this is a structured yet finely detailed wine, with firm but well-integrated tannins and vibrant acidity that lifts the rich fruit. Dark berry flavours, liquorice, mineral notes, and delicate spice carry through to a long, elegant finish. It already offers real pleasure, but it has the depth and structure to age beautifully for many years.
Production
Sourced from Clos de Vougeot, one of Burgundy’s most historic and prestigious Grand Cru vineyards, the wine reflects a terroir known for its impressive depth, power, and nuance. The 2008 growing season in Burgundy favoured freshness and balance, allowing Pinot Noir to retain aromatic lift while developing admirable concentration. Vinification at Domaine Méo-Camuzet is typically carried out with great attention to detail to preserve purity, texture, and site expression.
Food & Serving
This is a superb match for richly flavoured dishes such as game, roast beef, lamb, or slow-cooked braised meats, as well as mature cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 1–2 hours if opening it now, especially to allow the bouquet to fully open and the tannins to soften.
Producer
Domaine Méo-Camuzet is one of Burgundy’s most respected estates, closely associated with the Côte de Nuits and renowned for its refined, terroir-driven wines. The domaine has built its reputation on precise vineyard work and a style that combines power with elegance, earning significant acclaim among collectors and Burgundy enthusiasts alike.
