Domaine Marjan Simcic BRDA Cru Selection Teodor Bianco 2023 is a refined white cuvée from Slovenia’s Brda region, crafted from a classic blend of Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, and Pinot Grigio. It stands out for its elegant balance of fruit, texture, and minerality, shaped by old vines, low yields, and a deeply expressive terroir. Part of Marjan Simčič’s Cru Selection, it reflects a long family winemaking tradition in one of Slovenia’s most respected wine areas.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Teodor Bianco shows an intense yellow hue with bright golden reflections. The nose is aromatic and layered, offering ripe fruit alongside notes of butter and fresh bread crust, which add depth and a subtle savoury character. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and well-structured, with a generous texture and a long, persistent finish. Its combination of concentration and freshness gives it excellent aging potential, allowing the wine to gain further complexity over time.

Production
The grapes come from the hills of Brda, where the vineyards are farmed sustainably on the region’s characteristic opoka soils, a mix of marl and sandstone, with Friulano and Pinot Grigio also benefiting from clay-rich subsoils. The vines are grown at moderate altitude with low yields, which helps concentrate flavour and preserve the wine’s strong sense of place. Harvesting is done by hand, followed by spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, careful skin contact, gentle pressing, and unfiltered aging in oak barrels to build complexity while keeping the varietal character intact.

Food & Serving
Teodor Bianco is an excellent match for truffle risotto, roast or grilled poultry, and medium-aged cheeses. Serve it around 10–12°C to bring out both its aromatic lift and its creamy texture. A short decant can be helpful if the wine is very young, especially to open up its layered aromas and savoury nuances.
