Domaine Marey’s Hautes Côtes de Nuits Les Jamées is a fine example of classic Burgundy Pinot Noir, offering impressive character and authenticity at a very approachable price. Sourced from cooler hillside vineyards in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, it combines purity of fruit, gentle oak influence, and the signature elegance that makes Burgundy so sought after.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby-red colour. The nose is fragrant and inviting, with aromas of raspberries, red cherries, strawberries, liquorice, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is aromatic, rounded, and fruit-driven, with a silky texture, moderate tannins, and a delicate touch of vanilla from the oak ageing. This is a Pinot Noir that can be enjoyed young for its freshness and immediate charm, though a few years in bottle should bring extra softness and complexity.

Production
The fruit comes from vineyards planted around 150 metres above sea level in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, an area known for producing excellent value within the broader Burgundy landscape. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand, then fully destemmed and pressed before undergoing fermentation over 15 days. The wine is matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, which adds subtle structure and a light creamy nuance without overpowering the fruit.

Food & Serving
A versatile red Burgundy like this pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, duck breast, mushroom dishes, charcuterie, and grilled salmon. Serve slightly cool at around 14–16°C, and a brief decant is optional if opening young, though not essential.
