With fruit drawn from just 1.1 hectares of Renardes and only around 5,000 bottles produced, this is a compelling, limited wine from a celebrated 2019 vintage.

Tasting Notes
Deeply colored and inviting, the wine opens with concentrated aromas of dark berries, black cherry, and a subtle smoky edge from the oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and layered, with black cherry and blackberry at the core, supported by ripe fruit, fine structure, and a touch of tertiary complexity on the finish. The 2019 vintage’s natural richness and balance give the wine excellent aging potential. It is already expressive, but it should develop beautifully over the next 10–20 years under proper cellar conditions, gaining more nuance, earthiness, and savory depth with time.

Production
The Corton Renardes site lies on the eastern side of the Corton hill, benefiting from optimal sunlight exposure and a terroir well suited to structured, powerful Pinot Noir. Domaine Maillard farms a small 1.1-hectare parcel here, allowing for careful selection and a focused expression of the climat. The wine is aged for 18 months in barrel, with 75% new oak, which adds polish, spice, and subtle smoky complexity to the finished wine.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for rich, flavorful dishes such as wild boar, braised game, or a substantial côte de boeuf. Serve at around 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young, especially to allow the oak, fruit, and structure to fully integrate.
