Description

Lucien le Moine’s 2009 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is a beautifully concentrated Bourgogne Pinot Noir from one of the region’s most talked-about micro-négociants. Made in tiny quantities and handled with a meticulous, hands-on approach, it captures both the power of a great Grand Cru site and the precision for which the estate is known.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the depth and dark ruby intensity expected from a top Charmes-Chambertin in a ripe vintage. The nose opens with dark berries, cinnamon, and clove, followed by layered notes of spice, polished oak, and subtle earthiness. On the palate it is muscular yet exceptionally poised, with deep fruit, impressive clarity, and a long, refined finish. Firm tannins give the wine structure and aging capacity, while its balance and elegance suggest a very graceful evolution over time.

Production
The wine comes from Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru in Burgundy, where the estate sources fruit from carefully selected top parcels and brings it back to Beaune for élevage. Lucien le Moine is known for vinifying each wine individually in new classic Burgundy oak barrels, aging the wines on their lees, and bottling by hand without filtration to preserve texture, character, and terroir expression.

Food & Serving
This Grand Cru Pinot Noir is ideal with dishes that match its depth and structure, such as roast duck, squab, braised beef, game birds, or mushroom-based cuisine. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant gently for about 1–2 hours if drinking young; with age, a shorter decant or careful opening shortly before serving may be enough.

Producer
Lucien le Moine was founded in 1999 by Rotem and Mounir Saouma, whose shared passion for Burgundy led them to create one of the region’s most distinctive and highly regarded producers. Working with a strict focus on premier and grand cru sites, they have earned an excellent reputation among critics and collectors for their uncompromising quality, innovative cellar work, and remarkable consistency across both white and red wines.
