Description
Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron’s Bourgogne Aligoté “Aux Plantes” 2024 offers a fresh, characterful expression of one of Burgundy’s traditional white grapes. Produced by a highly regarded family domaine based in the Côte de Nuits, it combines Aligoté’s lively natural acidity with the focused, terroir-driven style associated with the estate.
Tasting Notes
Bright and pale in appearance, this Bourgogne Aligoté is expected to show a fresh, expressive nose with notes of citrus, green apple, white flowers and subtle herbal nuances. On the palate, its brisk acidity gives the wine energy and precision, while the fruit remains clean and refreshing, with a crisp finish.
The 2024 vintage is best enjoyed for its youthful freshness, though careful cellaring for a few years may allow additional texture and complexity to develop. Its vibrant style makes it especially appealing as an aperitif or alongside food.
Production
The wine is made from Aligoté, Burgundy’s classic white grape variety, from the “Aux Plantes” lieu-dit. Specific details concerning the vineyard’s soil composition, harvesting methods and vinification have not been provided. The estate farms parcels across the Côte de Nuits and is known for a hands-on, terroir-focused approach to its vineyards.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Its bright acidity makes it a natural partner for oysters, seafood, sushi, goat’s cheese, salads and light poultry dishes; it also works beautifully in the traditional Burgundy pairing of Aligoté with crème de cassis. Decanting is not normally necessary, although briefly opening the bottle before serving can help the wine express its aromas.
Producer
Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron is a family-owned estate in Burgundy that was taken over in 1988 by Sophie and Alain Meunier-Confuron. The domaine covers approximately 8 hectares across 12 appellations in the Côte de Nuits and is regarded as one of the region’s leading estates. Alain is known for his quiet, deeply dedicated work among the vines, while Sophie manages the commercial and administrative side of the domaine. Their wines are noted for their depth, concentration and distinctive character.
