Description

Domaine Jean Grivot’s Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots 2010 is a standout Premier Cru from one of the most coveted sites on the northern edge of Nuits-Saint-Georges, bordering Vosne-Romanée. It beautifully combines the power and depth of Nuits with the perfume, finesse, and elegance that Vosne is known for, making it a highly sought-after expression of Burgundy Pinot Noir.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine typically shows a deep ruby core with a polished, luminous edge. The nose is layered and expressive, offering dark and red berry fruits such as cherry, raspberry, blackberry, and blackcurrant, lifted by floral notes of rose petals and violet, with subtle spice, tea leaf, and a gentle smoky nuance in the background. On the palate, it is structured yet silky, with a generous mid-palate of ripe fruit supported by finely grained tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish is long, refined, and detailed, with complexity that deepens over time. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, and the 2010 vintage should continue to evolve beautifully in bottle, gaining savory, earthy, and tertiary notes over many years.

Production
Aux Boudots benefits from an exceptional terroir on a well-exposed slope near Vosne-Romanée, with deep, well-drained soils that help produce concentrated, aromatic Pinot Noir. At Domaine Jean Grivot, many of the vines are very old, with some over a century in age, contributing to both intensity and precision in the finished wine. The fruit is typically harvested by hand and vinified with careful extraction and restrained oak use to preserve purity, texture, and the distinctive character of the site.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs exceptionally well with refined dishes such as roast duck, pigeon, veal tenderloin, game birds, mushroom risotto, or pork with rich reductions. Serve at around 16–18°C to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially if opening before the wine has fully matured, to help reveal its aromatic complexity and soften the tannins.

Producer
Domaine Jean Grivot is one of Burgundy’s most respected family domaines, with a long-standing reputation for producing wines of depth, purity, and precision. Based in Vosne-Romanée and now led by the Grivot family across generations, the estate is widely regarded for its holdings in some of the Côte de Nuits’ most prestigious vineyards. Its wines are consistently admired for their balance, ageing potential, and faithful expression of terroir.
