Description

Domaine Jean Grivot Echezeaux Grand Cru 2006 is a refined and deeply expressive Pinot Noir from one of the most prestigious sites in Côte de Nuits. Sourced from the Les Cruots parcel within Echezeaux, it reflects both the elegance of Vosne-Romanée and the pedigree of a Grand Cru vineyard with a long Burgundian legacy.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine typically shows a radiant ruby hue with the depth and clarity expected from a mature Grand Cru Burgundy. The nose is layered and seductive, with red and dark cherry, raspberry, and blackcurrant lifted by violet, rose petal, forest floor, tea leaf, spice, subtle smoke, and finely integrated oak notes. On the palate, it is silky and harmonious, yet structured and concentrated, with ripe fruit framed by fresh acidity and fine-grained tannins. The finish is long, nuanced, and terroir-driven, and the wine has the balance and complexity to age gracefully for many more years, developing greater earthy, savory depth over time.

Production
This wine comes from the Grand Cru Echezeaux vineyard in Vosne-Romanée, a large and complex appellation divided into distinct climats, with Grivot’s parcel located in Les Cruots near Les Suchots. The old Pinot Noir vines produce small, concentrated berries, and the estate’s cellar work emphasizes purity, balance, and site expression, with élevage in French oak, including a notable proportion of new barrels to add structure and subtle toast.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C and, if possible, decant gently for 30–60 minutes to allow the aromas to open fully. It pairs beautifully with dishes such as roast duck, veal tenderloin, pigeon, pheasant, mushroom risotto, or truffled poultry, where the wine’s finesse and savory complexity can shine.

Producer
Domaine Jean Grivot is a respected family estate in Burgundy with deep roots in Vosne-Romanée and an excellent reputation for producing precise, age-worthy wines from top Côte de Nuits terroirs. Over the years, the domaine has become especially admired for its disciplined viticulture and elegant, terroir-transparent style, with standout holdings in several prized appellations, including Grand Cru sites such as Echezeaux and Clos de Vougeot.
