Domaine Jacques Prieur, Corton Bressandes 2021

Domaine Jacques Prieur’s Corton-Bressandes 2021 is a refined red Burgundy from one of the Côte de Beaune’s most prestigious Grand Cru sites. Made from Pinot Noir, it combines the elegance and aromatic detail of the 2021 vintage with the structure and longevity associated with Corton, Burgundy’s only red Grand Cru hill.

Tasting Notes
The wine presents a bright ruby-red colour, with the characteristic freshness of the 2021 vintage. Its bouquet opens with red berries, wild strawberry and raspberry, followed by floral notes, subtle spice and earthy nuances. On the palate, it is precise and graceful, with fine-grained tannins, lively acidity and a gently savoury finish. While approachable with careful aeration, it has the balance and structure to develop beautifully over the next 8–15 years, depending on storage conditions.

Production
Corton-Bressandes lies on the upper slopes of the Corton hill, where limestone-rich soils and excellent exposure provide both freshness and depth. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected before vinification, allowing the character of the Grand Cru site and the delicate profile of the 2021 vintage to remain in focus. The wine is matured in oak, with the aim of adding texture and complexity while preserving Pinot Noir’s natural purity.

Food & Serving
Serve at 15–17°C after allowing the bottle to come gently up to temperature. A short decant of 30–60 minutes can help reveal its aromatic layers, particularly when enjoyed young; mature bottles are best handled carefully and may only need a brief airing. It pairs especially well with roast poultry, duck, veal, mushroom dishes, refined charcuterie and lightly seasoned game.
