Domaine Jacques Prieur, Beaune Grèves 2020

Domaine Jacques Prieur Beaune Grèves 2020 is an elegant red Burgundy from one of Beaune’s most distinguished Premier Cru vineyards. Combining ripe fruit, subtle liquorice notes and fresh, polished tannins, it reflects both the generosity of the 2020 vintage and the refined character of this historic domaine. The estate’s story dates back to 1868, when it was established in Bligny-lès-Beaune.

Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep ruby-red colour. Its expressive nose opens with delicate aromas of ripe red and dark fruit, gradually revealing nuanced liquorice notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied and supple, with flavours of mature fruit supported by fresh, well-integrated tannins. The finish is balanced and pleasantly persistent. This is an approachable Burgundy with the structure to develop further in bottle. It can be enjoyed now with a short airing, while additional complexity and softness should emerge over the next several years, with a drinking window of approximately 2025–2032 depending on storage conditions.

Production
Produced from Pinot Noir in the Beaune Grèves climat, the wine undergoes a 19-day maceration and fermentation on the skins in open oak vats at controlled temperature. Pigeage is carried out twice daily during alcoholic fermentation, followed by 100% malolactic fermentation. The wine is then matured entirely in oak barrels for 17 months, allowing the ripe fruit and refined tannins to integrate with the oak.

Food & Serving
Its generous fruit, freshness and supple tannins make it an excellent match for roast chicken, duck, veal, pork tenderloin and mushroom-based dishes. It also pairs beautifully with Burgundy classics such as coq au vin or beef bourguignon. Serve at 15–17°C. Decanting is not essential, but 30–60 minutes in a decanter can help open the wine, particularly when enjoyed young.

Domaine Jacques Prieur traces its origins to 1868 in Bligny-lès-Beaune and has since become known for its mosaic of rare Burgundy terroirs and prestigious appellations.
