Description
Domaine Hubert Beck’s 2019 Alsace Riesling from the Frankstein terroir is a precise, complex white wine shaped by the distinctive character of Dambach-la-Ville. Its combination of mineral freshness, floral fragrance and harmonious structure makes it an elegant expression of northern Alsace and a particularly versatile choice for the table.
Tasting Notes
Crystal-clear in the glass, the wine opens with delicate floral aromas alongside subtle mineral notes. On the palate, it is refined and harmonious, with vibrant freshness and a focused, terroir-driven character. The mineral profile gives the wine both energy and length, while the floral nuances add lift and elegance.
Riesling’s natural acidity gives this 2019 vintage excellent cellaring potential. It can be enjoyed now for its freshness and clarity, but should develop additional complexity and softer, more integrated aromas over the next several years when properly stored.
Production
The wine comes from the Frankstein terroir around Dambach-la-Ville in northern Alsace, an area known for producing Rieslings with pronounced mineral character. Domaine Hubert Beck farms approximately 35 hectares of vineyards, all situated around the town. Since building a new cellar in 1997, the domaine has used modern pressing and vinification equipment, including temperature-controlled stainless-steel fermentation tanks. Specific harvesting details are not provided.
Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at approximately 8–10°C. This Riesling is a natural partner for shellfish, grilled or poached fish, sushi, seafood salads and delicate poultry dishes. Its freshness also works well with goat’s cheese and mildly spicy Asian cuisine. Decanting is generally unnecessary, although a short period of aeration in the glass can help reveal its floral and mineral nuances.
