Description
Domaine Hubert Beck’s Alsace Riesling Cigognes 2023 is a fresh, expressive white wine from Dambach-la-Ville in northern Alsace. It combines classic Riesling precision with generous fruit, making it an inviting choice for those looking for a balanced, food-friendly Alsace white with both freshness and character.
Tasting Notes
Bright and clear in appearance, the wine opens with an aromatic bouquet of citrus, delicate flowers and freshly cut grass. On the palate, it is pleasantly full-bodied, with abundant fresh fruit and a lively, refreshing character.
Fine Riesling acidity provides definition and balance, while the lingering finish brings a satisfying sense of length. The 2023 is drinking beautifully now and is best enjoyed in its youthful, aromatic style, though it should develop additional harmony over the next few years.
Production
The wine comes from Domaine Hubert Beck’s approximately 35 hectares of vineyards around Dambach-la-Ville, an area known for producing vibrant, elegant Alsace wines. The grapes are destemmed before fermentation, and the must remains in extended contact with the skins and fruit pulp to help preserve freshness while extracting maximum fruit character. Fermentation takes place in modern, temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, installed when the domaine built its new cellar in 1997.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Its citrus freshness and balanced acidity make it an excellent partner for seafood, shellfish, grilled fish, sushi, fresh salads and light poultry dishes; it also works particularly well with goat cheese and Alsatian-inspired cuisine. Decanting is not necessary, although opening the bottle shortly before serving allows its floral and citrus aromas to emerge.
Producer
Domaine Hubert Beck is based in the picturesque village of Dambach-la-Ville in northern Alsace. The domaine’s modern cellar, built in 1997, marked an important investment in temperature-controlled stainless-steel fermentation and contemporary pressing and vinification equipment. Today, Hubert Beck farms around 35 hectares of vineyards, all located around Dambach-la-Ville, with an emphasis on preserving the freshness and fruit purity of Alsace’s traditional varieties.
