Description
Domaine Henri Prudhon’s Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Murgers des Dents de Chien 2023 is a refined white Burgundy that captures the estate’s talent for combining freshness, finesse, and depth. Made from 100% Chardonnay from elevated limestone soils, it offers the kind of precise, mineral-driven style that has made Saint-Aubin one of the most admired sources for elegant Côte de Beaune whites.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this 2023 shows a pale, bright colour that hints at its freshness and clarity. The nose is delicate yet layered, with citrus, white flowers, green apple, and subtle notes of almond and honey, all lifted by a discreet touch of toasted oak and vanilla.
The palate is taut and lively, with a precise acidity that carries flavours of fresh orchard fruit, stone fruit, and a faint tropical nuance. Its mineral backbone gives the wine energy and structure, and the finish is long, clean, and vibrant. Enjoy it now for its youthful brightness, or cellar it for 3–6 years to gain extra complexity.
Production
This Premier Cru comes from high-altitude parcels in Saint-Aubin, where limestone-rich soils help preserve freshness and define the wine’s mineral character. The Chardonnay is carefully harvested to retain purity and balance, then vinified with measured oak influence so the fruit and terroir remain at the forefront while the wine gains subtle depth and texture.
Food & Serving
A natural match for seafood, shellfish, roast chicken in creamy sauces, and dishes with mushrooms or gentle cheeses. Serve chilled at around 10–12°C, and consider a short decant only if opening young to help the aromas fully unfold.
