Description

Domaine Henri Prudhon’s Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères 2023 is a finely judged Chardonnay that captures the elegance and precision Puligny is famed for. Sourced from one of the domaine’s smallest parcels, this is a wine with a strong sense of place, combining old vines, a prized hillside site, and a classically Burgundian approach to winemaking.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright golden hue that hints at both energy and depth. The nose is lifted and expressive, with citrus, white flowers, and a subtle toasted-bread note that adds sophistication without masking the wine’s purity. The palate is layered and concentrated, offering ripe fruit, a touch of spice, and a refined mineral core that gives the wine its poise and length. Its fresh acidity and structural balance suggest excellent aging potential, and it should evolve beautifully over the next 10–15 years.

Production
The wine comes from Les Enseignères, a small 0.88-hectare parcel set high on the slope in Puligny-Montrachet, planted with Chardonnay vines ranging from 30 to 80 years old. The east-southeast exposure and clay-limestone soils contribute to the wine’s tension, minerality, and fine natural freshness. Fermentation and ageing take place on the lees in oak barrels for 15–18 months, with around 20% new oak to add depth and texture while preserving the site’s inherent delicacy.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for lobster, grilled fish, poultry in cream-based sauces, or mild cheeses. Serve chilled at around 10–12°C to bring out its precision and aromatic detail; decanting is generally not necessary, though a short aeration can help if opening young.

Producer
Domaine Henri Prudhon is a respected family estate in Burgundy, known for its careful vineyard work and restrained, quality-focused winemaking. With a strong presence in the Côte de Beaune, the domaine has built a reputation for producing refined, terroir-driven whites that reflect their origins with clarity and elegance.
