Domaine Fredavelle, Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence Cuvée Inspiration 2022 Rose

Domaine Fredavelle’s Cuvée Inspiration 2022 is a full-bodied, characterful rosé from the Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence, combining generous fruit with refreshing citrus lift and a subtly bitter finish. Produced by a family estate founded after its first harvest in 1999, it offers a more gastronomic and textured style than a simple summer rosé.

Tasting Notes
Pale rosé in appearance, the wine opens with expressive aromas of ripe peach, blackcurrant and honeysuckle. On the palate, it is soft yet lively, with a rounded texture balanced by bright citrus freshness. Elegant bitter notes and hints of citrus peel add complexity and length to the finish. This is a rosé designed to be enjoyed in its youth, when its fruit and freshness are at their most expressive. Its structure and six months of maturation on wood and fine lees should allow it to develop gracefully over the short term, although it is best appreciated within the next few years.

Production
The vineyards lie around Éguilles, approximately 10 kilometres west of Aix-en-Provence, at an elevation of around 300 metres. Domaine Fredavelle farms 32 hectares across the Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence, where traditional regional varieties including Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Caladoc are cultivated for red and rosé wines. The grapes undergo several hours of maceration before pressing, followed by a low-temperature fermentation lasting around three weeks. The wine is then matured for six months in contact with wood and fine lees, contributing extra texture and complexity.

Food & Serving
A versatile, food-friendly rosé, Cuvée Inspiration pairs particularly well with Asian-inspired dishes, grilled or sautéed prawns and tender lamb. Serve lightly chilled at around 10–12°C to preserve its freshness while allowing its aromatic depth to show. Decanting is not normally necessary, although opening the bottle 10–15 minutes before serving can help reveal its full character.

Domaine Fredavelle is a family-run estate created by friends David Ravel and Olivia Menigoz, whose shared passion for vineyards and wine led to the estate’s first harvest in 1999. Based in Éguilles, the domaine now encompasses 32 hectares in the Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence and cultivates a broad selection of local and Mediterranean grape varieties. Its high-elevation vineyards and focus on expressive, terroir-driven wines have established it as a distinctive producer in the Aix-en-Provence region.
