Description
Domaine Dujac’s Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru 2010 is a beautifully composed Burgundy that captures both the precision of the estate and the character of its village terroir. Made from Pinot Noir sourced from carefully selected premier cru parcels, it combines depth, finesse, and the elegant structure that has made Dujac one of the most respected names in the Côte de Nuits.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color and immediately invites with aromas of cherry, raspberry, forest floor, and a subtle touch of spice. The bouquet is refined and layered, gradually revealing earthy and mineral nuances as the wine opens.
On the palate, the wine is concentrated yet graceful, with silky tannins, balanced acidity, and a precise mineral line that carries the fruit beautifully. The 2010 vintage is now mature and rounded, but it still retains freshness and clarity, giving it the kind of length and poise that suggests it can continue to evolve, even if it is already drinking very well today.
Production
The wine comes from carefully selected parcels on limestone- and clay-rich slopes in Morey-Saint-Denis, where old Pinot Noir vines provide both concentration and a strong sense of place. The grapes are harvested by hand, and vinification includes a partial use of whole clusters to preserve freshness, complexity, and terroir expression. After fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels, with a moderate proportion of new oak used to add structure and gentle spice without overshadowing the fruit.
Food & Serving
This Premier Cru Pinot Noir is an excellent match for roast duck, game birds, mushroom dishes, veal, or fine roasted poultry. It also works beautifully with earthy vegetarian dishes and soft, creamy cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if opening it while still relatively young or if you want the aromas to fully unfold.
Producer
Domaine Dujac was founded in the late 1960s and quickly established itself as one of Burgundy’s benchmark estates, admired for its elegant, terroir-driven style and thoughtful use of whole-cluster fermentation. Based in Morey-Saint-Denis, the domaine has played a major role in defining the village’s reputation for refined, age-worthy Pinot Noir. Today, it is widely regarded as one of the great producers of the Côte de Nuits, with a strong international following and an outstanding track record for quality.
