Domaine du Pégaü’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée is one of the estate’s most admired wines, loved for its depth, personality, and remarkable value in the context of the appellation. Built on a Grenache-dominant blend of 13 grape varieties, it captures the classic power and character of southern Rhône winemaking, with the added prestige of coming from one of the region’s most respected names.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep, inviting colour that hints at its concentration and richness. The nose opens with blackberry, dark plum, black tea, black pepper, rosemary, and thyme, evolving with air into notes of leather and sandalwood. On the palate, it delivers plenty of power without losing balance or finesse. Dark fruit, clove, white pepper, and a lifted herbal edge carry through a long, structured finish. While already compelling in its youth, this is a wine built for the cellar and will continue to improve over the next 5 years, remaining at a very high level for 20–25 years.

Production
The Cuvée Réservée is crafted from a traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape blend of 13 grape varieties, though it is clearly led by around 80% Grenache. Domaine du Pégaü follows a classic, low-intervention approach: the grapes are pressed as whole clusters, fermentation takes place in cement tanks with native yeasts only, and the wine is then matured for two years in used oak barrels. This patient vinification helps preserve the wine’s aromatic purity, texture, and authentic southern Rhône character.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for rich, flavourful dishes such as roast lamb, slow-cooked beef, game, braised short ribs, or herb-crusted duck. It also works beautifully with Provençal dishes, grilled meats, and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours, especially when young, to let the aromatics and structure fully open up.
