Domaine du Pegau’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 2017 is one of the appellation’s most admired benchmarks, now available here in an impressive 600CL format with original wooden case. Built around approximately 80% Grenache and rounded out by the traditional mix of Châteauneuf-du-Pape varieties, it combines old-school character with remarkable depth, making it a true collector’s bottle from one of the Rhône’s most respected names.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, насыщенный ruby-garnet core with youthful concentration. The bouquet is immediately expressive, opening with blackberry, dark plum, black tea, black pepper, rosemary, and thyme, before evolving with air into notes of leather and sandalwood. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet refined, with layers of dark fruit, clove, white pepper, and savory herbs carried by impressive structure and length. It has the concentration to age beautifully and will continue to improve over the next 5 years, while offering a long drinking window of 20–25 years for those willing to cellar it.

Production
Made from a traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape blend of 13 grape varieties, with Grenache as the dominant component, this wine reflects the rugged, sun-drenched terroir of the southern Rhône. The grapes are fermented as whole clusters in cement tanks with native yeasts, a method that preserves purity and texture, before the wine spends two years aging in used oak barrels to add complexity without masking the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is a natural partner for hearty dishes such as slow-roasted lamb, game, beef short ribs, duck confit, and herb-roasted vegetables. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours, especially if enjoying it young, to allow the aromatics and savory nuances to fully unfold.
