Description

Domaine du Bagnol Cassis Rosé Bio 2022 is a quintessential Provence rosé, organically crafted just steps from the Mediterranean in the famed appellation of Cassis. Fragrant, saline and impeccably balanced, it captures the breeze of the sea and the scent of sun‑warmed garrigue in every glass. This certified organic rosé brings together Cinsault, Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre in a precise blend that showcases both freshness and depth, making it as serious as it is effortlessly drinkable.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this rosé shines a luminous red‑gold hue with delicate orange reflections, evoking a late Provençal sunset. The nose is wonderfully evocative: aromas of lavender, wild herbs and pine mingle with hints of sea air and sun‑drenched coastline. Juicy vineyard peach, unripe mirabelle plum, gooseberry and a touch of mandarin zest unfold alongside herbal and balsamic nuances of lemon balm, peppermint and blackcurrant leaf. On the palate, the wine is both juicy and finely structured, with the fruit echoing the nose—stone fruit, citrus peel and tangy berries—wrapped in a savory herbal frame. A subtle salty note, characteristic of Cassis, runs through the mid‑palate and finish, enhancing its maritime character. Fine, gentle tannins add grip without hardness, while a lively, mouth‑watering acidity keeps everything precise and refreshing. Despite its charm in youth, this rosé has the concentration and balance to age gracefully for several years, gaining complexity and a more pronounced savory depth in bottle.

Production
Domaine du Bagnol’s vineyards lie in Cassis, on terraced slopes overlooking the Mediterranean, where limestone and clay soils, sea breezes and abundant sunlight combine to produce rosés of distinctive freshness and salinity. Farmed organically, the vines are tended with careful canopy management and modest yields to ensure concentration and purity of fruit. Grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness in the cool of the morning to preserve aromatics, then gently pressed to obtain the delicate color and fine phenolic balance typical of top Provençal rosé. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures in stainless steel to protect the wine’s vibrant fruit and floral notes, with meticulous lees management adding texture and length while keeping the style clean, precise and mineral‑driven.

Food & Serving
This Cassis rosé is made for maritime, Mediterranean and Provençal cuisine: think grilled sea bream or dorade, bouillabaisse, shellfish platters, tuna tartare, Niçoise salad, ratatouille, herb‑roasted chicken or vegetable tarts with olives and tapenade. Its herbal notes and saline edge also pair beautifully with anchovies, aioli, fennel dishes and goat’s cheese. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C (46–50°F) for apéritif, or slightly warmer at 10–12°C (50–54°F) at the table to let the aromatics fully open. This is a rosé that benefits from air: decanting for 20–30 minutes before serving allows the fruit, herbs and subtle spice to unfold and the texture to soften beautifully.

Producer
Domaine du Bagnol is one of the historic estates of Cassis, a small but prestigious appellation on the Provençal coast known for its characterful whites and distinctive, sea‑kissed rosés. Family‑run and deeply rooted in the village of Cassis, the domaine has become a benchmark for terroir‑driven wines that faithfully express their maritime limestone soils and Mediterranean climate. Embracing organic viticulture and thoughtful, low‑intervention winemaking, Domaine du Bagnol has helped elevate Cassis’s reputation beyond its local following, earning critical acclaim and a loyal global audience for wines that combine elegance, purity of fruit and an unmistakable sense of place.
