Description

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is one of Burgundy’s most revered estates, and La Tâche sits among its most coveted Grand Cru wines. The 1995 vintage offers the kind of precision, depth, and finesse that has made DRC a benchmark for Pinot Noir around the world, with a legacy rooted in centuries of winemaking history in Vosne-Romanée.

Tasting Notes
La Tâche 1995 is expected to show a deep, mature Burgundian color with the subtle brilliance typical of great Pinot Noir. On the nose, it can unfold with layers of red and dark berries, dried rose, forest floor, spice, and earthy, truffled nuances, becoming more complex with time in the glass. On the palate, the wine is known for its concentration and velvety texture, balancing ripe fruit with remarkable freshness, finesse, and mineral precision. The finish is long and nuanced, with a sense of harmony that allows the wine to age beautifully for decades under ideal cellar conditions.

Production
The grapes come from the Grand Cru vineyard La Tâche in Vosne-Romanée, one of the most celebrated terroirs in all of Burgundy. The vineyard is farmed with meticulous care, using hand harvesting, strict grape selection, and a low-intervention philosophy in the cellar to preserve purity and site expression. Vinification follows traditional methods, with fermentation in large wooden vats and maturation in new French oak barrels before bottling.

Food & Serving
This is a wine to enjoy with refined dishes such as roast duck, quail, venison, truffle pasta, or mushrooms in rich sauces. Serve at around 16-18°C, and if the bottle is mature, decant gently for a short time to remove sediment and help the aromas open without stripping away delicate nuance.

Producer
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, often referred to as DRC, has long been considered one of the greatest estates in Burgundy. With a history that stretches back to the Saint-Vivant monastery and a portfolio made up exclusively of Grand Cru vineyards, the domaine has earned an unmatched reputation for quality, tradition, and scarcity. Under the stewardship of Aubert de Villaine and a highly experienced team, it remains one of the most admired producers in the world of fine wine.
