Description

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is one of Burgundy’s most celebrated names, and this 2013 assortment is a rare showcase of the estate’s most revered Pinot Noir wines. Presented in the original wooden case, it brings together iconic parcels including Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands Échézeaux, and Échézeaux — a remarkable snapshot of Grand Cru Burgundy at its most refined.

Tasting Notes
This 2013 selection offers a fascinating range of expressions, from the deeper, more powerful wines of Échézeaux and Richebourg to the silkier, more graceful Romanée-Saint-Vivant and the extraordinary harmony of Romanée-Conti itself. Across the range, expect a luminous ruby color, layered aromas of red cherry, raspberry, rose petal, spice, forest floor, and subtle oak, with the kind of purity and precision that defines top-tier Pinot Noir. On the palate, the wines can span from concentrated and structured to airy, perfumed, and velvety, always with a sense of balance, detail, and length. The best examples have exceptional aging potential, with the grandest cuvées capable of evolving for decades and gaining complexity, nuance, and depth over time.

Production
The vineyards are rooted in some of Burgundy’s most prized terroirs, with old vines, tiny yields, and meticulous parcel-by-parcel farming. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti practices an essentially organic approach, focusing on soil balance, rigorous pruning, and highly selective hand harvesting carried out later than most other estates, followed by another strict manual sorting to keep only the finest fruit. Vinification is equally careful, and the wines are matured for 16 to 18 months in entirely new oak barrels from François Frères before bottling.

Food & Serving
These wines deserve equally refined dishes such as roast duck, pigeon, venison, truffle risotto, wild mushroom dishes, or simply a selection of fine aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting younger bottles for a short period to allow the aromatics to open, while older bottles are best decanted very gently, if at all.

Producer
Founded in its modern form in 1869, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti has roots stretching back more than eight centuries and has passed through a small number of historic owners, including the Vergy family and later the Prince of Conti, from whom the estate takes part of its name. Today it is led by Aubert de Villaine and Henri Roch, and it remains one of the benchmark estates not only in Burgundy but in the world, known for producing some of the most sought-after and age-worthy Pinot Noir wines ever made.
