Domaine de la Roche Aiguë’s Les Clous Meursault 2022 is a beautifully crafted white Burgundy that captures everything lovers expect from classic Meursault: depth, texture, and charm. Sourced from the domaine’s own parcel in the prized Les Clous site, it combines old-school craftsmanship with a refined, fruit-driven style that makes it immediately appealing and unmistakably Burgundian.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a straw-yellow color with subtle green reflections. The nose is layered and expressive, with notes of yellow plum, lemon zest, butter, brioche, toasted hazelnuts, white flowers, and a delicate touch of vanilla. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, intense, and seductive Meursault with the kind of richness and depth that gives the wine real presence. The use of mostly older oak keeps the fruit in focus while adding gentle complexity, and the wine’s balance suggests excellent potential for further development over the next several years.

Production
The Les Clous parcel lies high between the climats of Les Tillets and Les Vireuils, on an east-facing slope with limestone- and marl-rich soils that are ideally suited to Chardonnay. Harvesting is done entirely by hand, as is sorting, ensuring only the best fruit makes it into the cellar. Winemaker Eric Guillemard ages the wine in a majority of used barrels, allowing the wine’s natural richness and site expression to shine without excessive oak influence.

Food & Serving
This Meursault is a superb match for rich seafood and refined poultry dishes, especially steamed turbot, lobster, scallops, roast chicken, or creamy mushroom preparations. Serve it slightly chilled, around 10–12°C, and consider a short decant if opening it young to help the aromatic layers fully unfold.
