Domaine de la Roche Aiguë Beaune 1er Cru Les Cras 2022 is a beautifully poised Pinot Noir from one of Beaune’s most respected premier cru sites. Sourced from the domaine’s own parcel and crafted by winemaker Eric Guillemard, it combines elegance, charm, and depth in a style that shows just how expressive Burgundy can be.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a classic Burgundy profile with a polished, refined colour and plenty of underlying concentration. The nose opens with blackcurrant, blackberry, red cherry, and redcurrant, layered with hints of black truffle and subtle spice. On the palate, the dark fruit takes centre stage, supported by impressive roundness, intensity, and balance. It is already attractive now, but the wine has enough nuance and structure to gain even more complexity with a few years in bottle, with an ageing potential of at least 2–3 years and likely longer under the right conditions.

Production
The fruit comes from the domaine’s own parcel in the premier cru vineyard Les Cras in Beaune, a site that brings both finesse and depth to Pinot Noir. The grapes were harvested and sorted by hand, then pressed and fermented before being matured for 12 months in a mix of used and new oak barrels to preserve purity while adding texture and complexity.

Food & Serving
This is a very versatile Burgundy red that will shine with duck breast, roast chicken, game birds, veal, mushroom dishes, and lightly spiced lamb. Serve at 15–17°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if drinking young to help the aromas open up and the wine show its full charm.
