Description
Domaine de La Pousse d'Or’s Chambolle-Musigny Village 2024 captures the appellation’s renowned silkiness, finesse and aromatic delicacy. Made from Pinot Noir and produced biodynamically, it combines fragrant red fruit, floral nuances and chalky minerality with the refined texture that has made Chambolle-Musigny one of Burgundy’s most sought-after village appellations. Chambolle-Musigny is also among the domaine’s historic holdings, making this cuvée a particularly authentic expression of its Côte de Nuits heritage.
Tasting Notes
The wine displays a graceful ruby colour. Its refined bouquet opens with violets, rose petals, raspberries, wild strawberries and red cherries, complemented by subtle chalky minerality and a delicate touch of spice. On the palate, it is elegant and precise, with lively freshness, silky tannins and a beautifully balanced structure. Red fruit and floral notes carry through to a long, polished finish, where a gentle earthiness adds depth without overshadowing the wine’s finesse.
This is a Chambolle-Musigny defined more by precision and perfume than by power. Its freshness, fine tannins and balanced fruit should allow it to develop added complexity with bottle age, while remaining approachable in its youth when served with a little air.
Production
The domaine works fully biodynamically, seeking to express each vineyard’s character with clarity and minimal interference. Following a careful manual harvest, the Pinot Noir grapes are vinified slowly and with close attention to temperature and extraction in order to preserve their aromatic finesse. The wine is then matured for an extended period on fine lees in French oak barrels, allowing texture, complexity and terroir expression to develop while retaining the elegance typical of Chambolle-Musigny.
Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 14–16°C, giving the wine a short period in the glass or a gentle decant of around 30–60 minutes if enjoyed young. Its refined structure makes it an excellent partner for roasted guinea fowl, partridge, veal fillet, lightly braised duck breast, mushrooms and truffle dishes. It also pairs beautifully with classic Burgundy preparations, as well as mild washed-rind cheeses or mature bloomy-rind cheeses that will complement rather than overpower its delicate balance.
Producer
Domaine de La Pousse d'Or is one of Burgundy’s most respected estates, with approximately 17 hectares spread across prestigious appellations in both the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. The domaine has a long-standing connection with Chambolle-Musigny, alongside holdings in several other important Burgundian vineyards. Its fully biodynamic approach and careful, terroir-focused winemaking are centred on translating the character of each site as purely as possible, with slow vinification and thoughtful élevage preserving elegance, precision and complexity.
