Description
Domaine de La Pousse d'Or’s Chambolle-Musigny Les Groseilles 2024 captures the appellation’s most refined and graceful side. Produced from one of the domaine’s rarest Premier Cru parcels—just around 0.52 hectares—this Pinot Noir combines delicate red fruit, floral nuance and finely tuned mineral precision. It is a polished expression of one of Burgundy’s historic and most admired terroirs.
Tasting Notes
Bright ruby in colour, the wine opens with an elegant bouquet of redcurrants, raspberries, wild strawberries and red cherries. Floral notes of violet, rose petal and peony follow, layered with subtle hints of liquorice, Sichuan pepper, chalk, wet limestone and finely integrated oak. The aromatic profile is intricate and distinctly Chambolle-Musigny in its finesse.
On the palate, it is silky, energetic and remarkably precise. Ripe red fruit is balanced by fresh acidity and exceptionally fine tannins, creating a poised, seamless texture. The finish is long, mineral and quietly concentrated, with an appealing combination of elegance and depth. Its structure and freshness suggest excellent ageing potential, with the complexity expected to develop beautifully over the coming years.
Production
The wine comes from Domaine de La Pousse d'Or’s biodynamically farmed vineyards, where limestone and chalk-rich soils help shape its mineral character and precise, lifted profile. Following an approximately seven-day cold maceration, the grapes undergo temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation, with a total cuvaison of around 21 days. The wine then matures for approximately 15 months in French oak barrels, around 30% of which are new. Malolactic fermentation takes place during barrel ageing, adding texture and complexity while preserving freshness and a clear expression of the climat.
Food & Serving
Its finesse makes it particularly well suited to elegant dishes rather than heavily seasoned preparations. Try it with roast pigeon, guinea fowl, veal tenderloin, venison, duck breast or pink-roasted saddle of lamb. Morel mushrooms, black truffle and delicate jus-based dishes also complement its floral and mineral depth. With further bottle age, it should pair beautifully with soft, mature cheeses and refined Burgundian cuisine. Serve lightly cool at around 15–17°C. A young bottle may benefit from 30–60 minutes in a decanter, while older bottles are best decanted gently and briefly, if at all.
Producer
Domaine de La Pousse d'Or is one of Burgundy’s historic top estates, with approximately 17 hectares of biodynamically farmed vineyards across some of the most prestigious terroirs of the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. The domaine’s holdings include seven Grand Crus, eleven Premier Crus and three monopoles. Its philosophy centres on allowing each climat to express itself as purely as possible, supported by long, gentle vinification and ageing on fine lees. This careful approach places the finesse of Pinot Noir at the heart of the wines and has established Domaine de La Pousse d'Or as a significant and highly respected producer in Burgundy.
