Domaine de la Mordorée’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Reine des Bois 2022 is a beautifully structured, organic and biodynamic Rhône red that captures everything people love about this famous appellation: power, depth, and pure fruit expression. Alongside the classic Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Counoise blend, the inclusion of rare local varieties adds a distinctive twist and a real sense of place.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep purple hue that hints at its concentration and richness. The nose opens with layers of red and dark berries—especially strawberry, cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry—lifted by violet florals and a gentle sweet licorice note. On the palate, it is dense and powerful, with a full, generous texture and a long, fruit-driven finish. Despite its richness, the wine keeps a fresh, lively character that should allow it to age gracefully for several years, developing more savory and complex nuances over time.

Production
The vines are rooted in a Châteauneuf-du-Pape terroir of sand and red clay, topped with the iconic galets roulés that store daytime heat and release it through the cool nights, helping Grenache reach full ripeness. The grapes are harvested with organic and biodynamic principles in mind, and in the cellar the clusters are destemmed before fermentation in stainless steel tanks over 30 days. The wine is then aged for 10 months, with 20% matured in oak and the rest kept in tank to preserve freshness and fruit purity.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roasted lamb, beef, game, duck, or richly flavored Mediterranean dishes such as herb-crusted vegetables and tomato-based stews. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to let the wine fully open and show its layered aromatics.
