Domaine de la Mordorée’s Cuvée de la Reine des Bois is the estate’s flagship bottling, made from old vines and crafted to show the depth and personality of the southern Rhône. This 2007 magnum comes from one of the region’s standout vintages, offering the kind of concentration, balance and finesse that has made the cuvée so highly regarded.

Tasting Notes
Deeply coloured and richly layered, the wine opens with intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry, liquorice, garrigue, lavender and warm Mediterranean spice. With age, it can develop more complex secondary notes of leather, tobacco and forest floor, adding depth and nuance. On the palate it is full-bodied and concentrated, yet impressively polished, with a silky texture, ripe tannins and a fresh, lifted finish. Dark fruit is framed by spicy and mineral undertones, giving the wine excellent structure, length and aging potential.

Production
Produced from old vines with naturally low yields, this cuvée is farmed biodynamically and shaped by the stony, clay- and limestone-rich soils of the Rhône’s southern reaches. The vineyard’s terroir lends the wine its signature concentration and mineral backbone. Harvesting is done with care to preserve purity and balance, followed by vinification designed to highlight fruit intensity, texture and the expressive character of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for grilled lamb, beef with herbs, game, slow-braised dishes and richly flavoured Mediterranean cuisine. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting for at least 1–2 hours is recommended, especially if opening now, to allow the wine’s aromas and structure to fully unfold.
