Domaine de la Janasse was founded in 1967, when Aimé Sabon took over his family’s vineyards and chose to establish an independent domaine rather than continue sending the grapes to a cooperative cellar. Named after the family farm in Courthézon, the estate has grown from its original 15 hectares to around 90 hectares. Aimé’s son Christophe joined him in 1991, followed by his daughter Isabelle a decade later, and the family has built Domaine de la Janasse into one of the leading names in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the wider southern Rhône.
