Production
The wine comes from Domaine de la Janasse’s mosaic of more than sixty individual parcels around Courthézon, where varied terroirs contribute complexity to the final cuvée. It is made according to the classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape method, with maturation taking place in a combination of 40% new oak barrels and 60% large foudres. Domaine de la Janasse was established in 1967 when Aimé Sabon took over his family’s vineyards in Courthézon and chose to create an independent estate rather than continue sending the grapes to a cooperative. From its beginnings with 15 hectares, the domaine has grown to approximately 90 hectares, with Christophe Sabon joining his father in 1991 and Isabelle becoming part of the team ten years later. Thanks to its fragmented vineyard holdings and wide range of terroirs, Domaine de la Janasse has become one of the leading names and recognised gems of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
