Domaine de Ferrand’s Côtes du Rhône Mistral is a warm, expressive red that captures the sun-drenched character of southern Rhône. Inspired by the Mistral wind that shapes the vineyards around Orange, it combines ripe fruit, spice, and a refreshing sense of lift. The Bravay family has been rooted in the region since the 1800s, bringing a long tradition of careful, terroir-driven winemaking to this bottle.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color that hints at its generous fruit profile. The nose is open and inviting, with aromas of ripe red and dark berries, Mediterranean herbs, and a touch of peppery spice. The palate is juicy and full-bodied, with soft tannins, a warm core of fruit, and a lively savory finish. Grenache brings roundness and richness, while Syrah adds structure and spice, creating a well-balanced wine with enough freshness to stay engaging. It is enjoyable now and should hold well over the next few years.

Production
This is a classic Rhône blend led by Grenache and Syrah, with Cinsault contributing brightness and finesse. The grapes come from vineyards influenced by the varied terroir around Orange, where warmth, sun exposure, and the cooling Mistral help preserve balance and clarity in the wine. Vinification is carried out in a traditional style that emphasizes fruit purity, supple texture, and a clear expression of place.

Food & Serving
A versatile food wine, it works beautifully with grilled meats, lamb, beef, and rustic vegetable dishes. It is also a natural match for classic Provençal cooking, where herbs, tomatoes, and Mediterranean flavors echo the wine’s savory profile. Serve slightly cool at around 16–18°C, and decanting is optional but can help open the wine if enjoyed young.

Domaine de Ferrand has belonged to the Bravay family since the 19th century and is now run by Philippe Bravay and his wife Mireille. With deep roots in both Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône, the estate is known for a respectful, terroir-focused approach that values balance and tradition. Their wines are appreciated for their authenticity, precision, and distinctive southern Rhône character.
