Description

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru 2009 is one of the most iconic expressions of Pinot Noir in Burgundy, and one of the crown jewels of Chambolle-Musigny. From the domaine that owns the largest share of the legendary Musigny vineyard, this is a wine celebrated for its rare combination of power, finesse, and historical prestige.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Musigny shows remarkable depth and translucence, with a refined ruby-garnet hue that reflects both concentration and delicacy. The nose is layered and highly perfumed, unfolding with wild raspberry, cherry, violet, rose petal, spice, forest floor, and a subtle mineral edge. On the palate, the wine feels both intensely concentrated and almost weightless. Silky-textured and impeccably balanced, it delivers waves of red and dark berry fruit, floral tones, and chalky minerality, supported by vibrant acidity and exquisitely fine tannins. The finish is exceptionally long and harmonious. This is a Grand Cru with extraordinary aging potential, capable of evolving beautifully for decades and gaining further complexity with notes of truffle, dried flowers, and exotic spice.

Production
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé’s Musigny is crafted with deep respect for the vineyard’s exceptional terroir in Chambolle-Musigny, where the limestone-rich soils and prime exposure help shape the wine’s aromatic precision and elegant structure. The estate has long been known for meticulous viticulture and careful harvesting, ensuring that only the finest Pinot Noir grapes are selected. Vinification is carried out with a restrained, terroir-driven approach that preserves purity of fruit, floral lift, and the wine’s natural balance. The result is a finely etched Grand Cru that captures both the aristocratic elegance of Musigny and the depth expected from one of Burgundy’s greatest vineyards.

Food & Serving
This is a wine best served with refined dishes that complement its delicacy and complexity, such as roast pigeon, duck breast, veal, game birds, or mushroom-based dishes. It also pairs beautifully with truffle, earthy sauces, and simply prepared lamb. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting young bottles carefully to open the bouquet; older vintages may only need a gentle decant, if any, to preserve their nuance.

Producer
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is one of Burgundy’s most respected historic domaines and a reference point for Chambolle-Musigny. With deep roots in the region and an exceptional holding in Musigny Grand Cru, the estate has earned a reputation for producing some of the most elegant and long-lived Pinot Noir wines in the world. Its commitment to tradition, precision, and terroir expression has made it a benchmark producer in Burgundy.
