Description

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé’s Chambolle-Musigny 2012 is a beautiful example of why this estate is regarded as one of Burgundy’s great names. Although classified at village level, it draws on fruit from Les Porlottes as well as declassified parcels from the domaine’s premier cru holdings, giving it a level of depth and finesse that far exceeds expectations.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the poised, translucent character expected from fine Chambolle-Musigny, with a vibrant ruby hue that hints at its freshness and elegance. The bouquet is layered and refined, offering red raspberry, cherry, violets, and rose petals, followed by subtle notes of woodland, chalky minerality, and a delicate spice. The palate is silky and graceful, with juicy red fruit at the core, lively acidity, and the finely woven tannins that give Chambolle-Musigny its trademark elegance. Now with more than a decade of bottle age, it has gained extra nuance and complexity while retaining impressive energy and precision on the finish. The aftertaste is long, mineral, and lifted, with a weightless sense of refinement that defines the house style.

Production
Produced in Burgundy from Pinot Noir, this wine benefits from fruit sourced in and around Chambolle-Musigny, including Les Porlottes and declassified fruit from premier cru parcels. The 2012 growing season was marked by frost, hail, and very low yields, but careful selection at the domaine resulted in a wine of notable concentration, purity, and character.

Food & Serving
This is a natural match for roast duck, quail, poultry with mushroom sauce, veal, game birds, or earthy dishes such as mushroom risotto and truffle pasta. Serve slightly chilled at around 16-17°C, and decant gently for 30-60 minutes if opening now, especially to allow the aromatics to fully unfold.

Producer
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is one of the most historic and prestigious domaines in Burgundy, long celebrated for its exceptional holdings in Chambolle-Musigny and for producing wines of rare elegance and precision. The estate has earned an enduring reputation among collectors and Burgundy lovers for combining depth, structure, and perfume in a style that is unmistakably classic.
