Description

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 2012 is one of Burgundy’s most sought-after Premier Cru wines, often seen as the closest expression to the domaine’s legendary Musigny Grand Cru. Crafted with fruit from younger Musigny vines alongside carefully selected Premier Cru parcels, it offers remarkable depth, finesse, and a true sense of Chambolle-Musigny terroir.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows the classic elegance of Chambolle-Musigny, with aromas of raspberry, wild strawberry, cherry, and violet lifted by subtle spice, discreet oak, and a chalky mineral edge. With age, it gains further layers of forest floor, dried flowers, and oriental spices, adding extra complexity. On the palate, it combines a silky texture with impressive concentration. The refined Pinot Noir fruit is supported by lively acidity and polished tannins, creating a wine that feels both precise and energetic, with red berries, floral nuances, and mineral tones carried through a long, harmonious finish. It has excellent aging potential and will continue to develop beautifully over time.

Production
The wine is sourced from younger vines in Musigny as well as selected Premier Cru vineyards in Chambolle-Musigny, an area known for its limestone-rich soils and exceptional conditions for Pinot Noir. These terroirs contribute both elegance and structure, while careful harvesting and classic Burgundian vinification preserve purity, fragrance, and detail.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for dishes such as roast duck, squab, game birds, veal, mushroom-based preparations, and fine poultry. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 30–60 minutes can help the wine open up, especially in its youth.

Producer
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is one of Burgundy’s great historic estates and a benchmark producer in Chambolle-Musigny. Renowned for its deep connection to Musigny and for wines of exceptional precision and refinement, the domaine has built a global reputation for producing some of the region’s most distinguished Pinot Noir expressions.
