Description

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 2005 is one of Burgundy’s most coveted Premier Cru Pinot Noirs, often regarded as the closest expression to the estate’s legendary Musigny Grand Cru. Drawn in part from younger vines in Musigny alongside selected Premier Cru parcels, it delivers a rare combination of depth, finesse, and unmistakable terroir character.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the graceful, translucent beauty typical of top Chambolle-Musigny, with vibrant red fruit and a refined, polished profile. The nose opens with raspberry, wild strawberry, cherry, and violet, layered with subtle spice, discreet oak, and a chalky mineral note. On the palate, the wine is silky yet remarkably concentrated, with lifted acidity and finely woven tannins providing both tension and structure. Red berry fruit, floral nuances, and mineral undertones lead to a long, harmonious finish, while bottle age can bring additional complexity in the form of forest floor, dried flowers, and exotic spice.

Production
The wine comes from carefully selected Premier Cru parcels in Chambolle-Musigny, complemented by fruit from younger Musigny vines, giving it exceptional depth and a strong link to one of Burgundy’s greatest terroirs. Production is guided by a focus on purity and precision, with vinification aimed at preserving the delicacy, aromatic detail, and mineral expression of Pinot Noir from this prized appellation.

Food & Serving
Best enjoyed with refined dishes that echo its elegance, such as roast poultry, duck breast, veal, mushroom risotto, or truffle-based preparations. Serve at around 16-18°C, and decant gently if the bottle has been well cellared and is still youthful, though older vintages may be best poured directly to preserve their subtle perfume.

Producer
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is one of Burgundy’s historic benchmark domaines, with deep roots in Chambolle-Musigny and an enduring reputation for producing wines of exceptional elegance and precision. The estate is especially celebrated for its Musigny holdings and for helping define the finesse-driven style that makes Chambolle-Musigny one of the most admired villages in Burgundy.
