Domaine Claire Clavel’s Clair de Lune Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages Saint-Gervais Blanc 2024 is a characterful southern Rhône white, bringing together the richness of Roussanne and the aromatic lift of Viognier. Sourced from the plateau of Saint-Gervais, this is a terroir-driven wine with both breadth and freshness, crafted by Claire Clavel and her family estate in the Cèze Valley north of Nîmes.

Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass, it offers an expressive nose of stone fruit, apricot, white flowers and subtle herbal notes, with a gentle mineral edge that reflects the slate-rich soils of Saint-Gervais. On the palate, the wine is rounded and generous, with ripe fruit, creamy texture and a lively thread of freshness that keeps it balanced and elegant. The lees ageing adds extra depth and a smooth, supple finish, while the wine should drink beautifully over the next few years.

Production
Domaine Clavel farms 80 hectares across five villages in the southern Rhône, with a strong focus on working as naturally and cleanly as possible; the estate has been Terra Vitis certified since 2010. For this cuvée, 70% Roussanne and 30% Viognier are sourced from vineyards in Saint-Gervais, planted at around 200 meters altitude on a plateau of red sandstone and slate. The grapes are harvested mostly by hand, then the must is fermented in French oak barrels before spending a few months ageing on the lees for added texture and complexity.

Food & Serving
Serve at 10–11°C with rich fish dishes, roasted poultry or veal, where the wine’s aromatic depth and creamy structure can shine. It can be enjoyed on its own as well, but a short decant is not necessary unless you want to open up its aromas a little further.

Domaine Claire Clavel is a family-run estate rooted in the Cèze Valley of the Pays du Gard, just north of Nîmes. Led by winemaker Claire Clavel with support from her father Denis, the domaine manages a wide mosaic of vineyards across the southern Rhône, with a particular strength in Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône-Villages Saint-Gervais.
