Description
Domaine Chevigny-Rousseau’s Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts 2022 is a refined Burgundy red from one of the Côte de Nuits’ most prestigious villages. The estate’s mosaic of prized vineyards includes parcels sharing the same exceptional terroir as vineyards associated with Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, giving this wine a particularly compelling sense of place. Produced in a traditional Burgundian style, it combines elegant fruit, silky texture and impressive depth.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby-red colour with dark purple highlights. Its complex bouquet opens with refined red and dark fruit, followed by delicate spicy notes and the subtle earthy nuances characteristic of Vosne-Romanée. On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, yet remarkably smooth, with a powerful youthful presence balanced by velvety tannins and a long, polished finish.
The 2022 vintage is already pleasurable for its generous fruit and supple texture, but its structure and complexity should allow it to develop beautifully with further bottle age. It can be enjoyed now after careful aeration or cellared for several years to reveal greater aromatic depth and harmony.
Production
The vines are rooted in the celebrated terroir of Vosne-Romanée, where a mosaic of carefully situated parcels contributes to the wine’s layered expression. The grapes are hand-harvested and the wine is made according to traditional Burgundian methods. It is aged for approximately 12–18 months, including around 30% in new oak, allowing the fruit and terroir to remain at the centre while adding gentle spice and structure.
Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C alongside roast duck, beef tenderloin, venison or lamb, as well as refined dishes featuring mushrooms, truffle or roasted root vegetables. The wine’s supple tannins also make it a natural match for classic Burgundy preparations such as coq au vin. For drinking in its youth, decant for around 30–60 minutes to allow its aromas and texture to open; older bottles should be handled gently and decanted only if necessary to remove sediment.
Producer
Domaine Chevigny-Rousseau is a family-run estate based in Vosne-Romanée and has been established since 1947. Its vineyards are distributed across some of Burgundy’s most valuable parcels, including land sharing the exceptional terroir found alongside renowned Domaine de la Romanée-Conti vineyards. The domaine’s traditional approach, careful hand-harvesting and focus on expressing individual terroir have earned its wines a strong reputation for elegance, authenticity and sheer drinking pleasure.
