Description
Domaine Chevigny-Rousseau’s Echezeaux 2019 is a refined Grand Cru Burgundy from one of the Côte de Nuits’ most distinguished vineyards. Based in Vosne-Romanée, this family domaine has been producing wine since 1947, with vines spread across a mosaic of highly prized parcels—including sites sharing the celebrated Echezeaux terroir associated with Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The wine combines remarkable depth with a clear expression of its exceptional origin.
Tasting Notes
The wine displays a brilliant ruby-red colour with deep purple highlights. Its complex bouquet opens gradually, revealing warm spices, subtle oak, and the layered fragrance typical of fine Pinot Noir from Vosne-Romanée. On the palate, it is powerful yet poised, with concentrated fruit, impressive structure, and firm, well-integrated tannins. The wine’s full identity continues to unfold with time in the bottle, rewarding patience and careful decanting. It has the structure and balance to develop beautifully over the medium to long term, with considerable ageing potential when properly stored.
Production
Produced from Pinot Noir grown in the renowned Echezeaux Grand Cru vineyards, the wine reflects the limestone and clay-rich terroir of the Côte de Nuits. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified according to traditional Burgundian methods, with an emphasis on preserving the character of the site. The wine undergoes an average of 18 months of maturation, approximately 80% of which takes place in new oak barrels, adding texture and subtle spicy and woody complexity without overshadowing the terroir.
Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C after allowing the wine to come gradually to serving temperature. Echezeaux pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roast duck, venison, beef fillet, lamb, or poultry with mushrooms and truffle. For a young bottle, decant for around one to two hours to help the aromas emerge; mature vintages may benefit from gentler handling and a shorter decant, depending on their development.
