Description
Domaine Chevigny-Rousseau’s Chambolle-Musigny Les Combottes 2022 is a refined Burgundy red that combines the appellation’s renowned elegance with impressive depth and concentration. Produced by a family domaine established in 1947 and based in Vosne-Romanée, it offers a beautifully precise expression of one of the Côte de Nuits’ most sought-after terroirs.
Tasting Notes
The wine shows a clear, luminous ruby-red colour. Its aromatic profile is delicately floral, with notes of violet layered over ripe cherry, strawberry and raspberry. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet silk-textured, with excellent complexity, intensity and finesse. The polished structure and concentration of the 2022 vintage give it the balance to develop further in bottle, while already offering considerable pleasure. It should drink beautifully over the next 8–12 years, depending on storage conditions.
Production
Made from Pinot Noir in Chambolle-Musigny, this wine reflects the fine, expressive character associated with the Côte de Nuits. Domaine Chevigny-Rousseau’s vineyards are spread like a mosaic across some of Burgundy’s most valuable parcels, including sites sharing the same soils as vineyards associated with Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The wine is aged for an average of 18 months, with approximately 80% of the maturation taking place in new oak barrels. Specific harvesting and vinification details are not provided.
Food & Serving
Its combination of silky texture, red-fruit freshness and depth makes it an excellent partner for roast duck, pigeon, veal, game birds, mushroom dishes and carefully prepared poultry. Serve lightly cool, around 15–17°C. Decanting is not essential when young, but a gentle decant of 30–60 minutes can help open the wine’s floral aromas and reveal its complexity; mature bottles are best handled with care and decanted only if necessary to remove sediment.
