Domaine Chanzy Santenay 1er Cru Gravières 2022

Domaine Chanzy’s Santenay 1er Cru Gravières 2022 is a deeply flavoured Pinot Noir from one of Santenay’s most respected premier cru sites. Sourced from the southern end of the Côte de Beaune, this wine reflects the character of marl-rich soils and a style that balances rustic depth with Burgundy finesse.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a dark, насыщенный ruby hue with a sense of concentration that hints at its origin. The nose opens with ripe strawberry, raspberry and cherry, layered with forest floor, mushrooms and violet notes that add complexity and a distinctly Burgundian character. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with red fruit taking the lead and a supple texture that makes the wine immediately appealing. The acidity is well integrated, giving freshness and shape rather than sharpness, while the earthy undertones add grip and detail. It can be enjoyed now, but it will benefit from time in bottle and should continue to evolve nicely over the next several years.

Production
The vineyard lies in Santenay, in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune, where marl-rich soils help give the wine its darker profile and earthy depth. Harvesting and sorting are carried out carefully by hand, preserving fruit quality from the start. Vinification is overseen by winemaker Max Blondelle over a 10-day fermentation, followed by 10 months of aging in French oak barrels and an additional 5 months in stainless steel to refine the wine before release.

Food & Serving
This Pinot Noir works beautifully with roasted poultry, duck, veal, mushroom dishes and game birds, as well as richer vegetarian plates such as lentil stew or truffled risotto. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about 30–60 minutes if drinking young to allow the aromas to open fully.
