Domaine Chanzy Rully En Rosey Pinot Noir 2022

Rully may be best known for its elegant whites, but Domaine Chanzy proves the village can deliver equally compelling Pinot Noir. From the En Rosey vineyard, this 2022 Burgundy combines ripe fruit, finesse, and the classic charm of the Côte Chalonnaise.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a beautiful ruby-red color. The nose opens with ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry, and raspberry, lifted by a subtle hint of anise. On the palate, the wine is fresh and supple, with vivid red fruit at the fore and the softest, most seamless tannins. It is well balanced and approachable now, while still having the structure to develop gracefully over the next few years.

Production
The fruit comes from En Rosey, a vineyard set at around 350 meters above sea level on the slopes of the Côte Chalonnaise. After fermentation, the wine is matured for 14 months in French oak barrels before bottling, giving it added depth and polish without masking the fruit.

Food & Serving
This Pinot Noir is a versatile partner for roast chicken, duck, mushroom dishes, game birds, or lighter cuts of lamb. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider a short decant if opening it young to help the aromatics unfold.

Domaine Chanzy is one of the leading producers in the Côte Chalonnaise, with holdings in Bouzeron, Rully, Givry, and Mercurey. Founded in 1974 by Daniel Chanzy, the estate was built on the idea that wines from this part of Burgundy could stand alongside the great names of the Côte d’Or. Since being acquired by a group of Burgundy wine lovers in 2013, the domaine has expanded to 163 hectares and is now guided by winemaker Max Blondelle, whose experience at Domaine Chanson brings polish and precision to the estate’s wines.
