Domaine Chandon de Briailles’ Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 2022 is a refined Burgundy Pinot Noir shaped by the mineral character of one of Savigny-lès-Beaune’s most distinguished premier cru sites. Floral, precise and quietly expressive, it reflects the estate’s long-standing commitment to biodynamic farming and minimal-intervention winemaking. The domaine has been in the same family since 1834 and is widely respected for its terroir-driven wines from the Côte de Beaune.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a bright ruby colour. The nose is elegantly perfumed, offering delicate aromas of violet and rose alongside fresh cherry and subtle earthy nuances. On the palate, it is poised and mineral, with a gentle saline note, silky tannins and finely balanced freshness. The finish is long, refined and distinctly Burgundian, combining depth with impressive precision. This is an approachable vintage with the structure and concentration to develop further in bottle. It can be enjoyed now for its floral freshness and polished texture, while careful cellaring over the next 5–10 years should allow additional savoury and earthy complexity to emerge.

Production
The Les Lavières vineyard lies in Savigny-lès-Beaune in the Côte de Beaune, where Pinot Noir benefits from Burgundy’s limestone-rich soils and cool, precise growing conditions. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified with whole clusters, without pumping or added sulphites, allowing the fruit and site to speak clearly. Fermentation takes place in oak, followed by 14–18 months of maturation in Burgundian oak barrels, approximately 10% of which are new. The wine is made with minimal intervention to preserve the character of the terroir.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly cool, at approximately 14–16°C. This elegant Pinot Noir is a natural match for roast chicken, duck, veal, pork tenderloin and delicate game, as well as mushroom dishes, lentils and earthy vegetable preparations. Decanting is not essential, but a gentle 30-minute decant can help open the wine’s floral aromas and reveal its mineral depth, particularly when enjoyed young.

Today, Claude and François de Nicolay oversee approximately 13.7 hectares of vineyards, farmed fully biodynamically since 2005.
