Domaine Chandon de Briailles, Corton Charlemagne 2022 White

Domaine Chandon de Briailles’ Corton-Charlemagne 2022 is a precise, mineral white Burgundy from one of the Côte de Beaune’s most celebrated Grand Cru vineyards. Crafted in a classic, low-intervention style, it combines vibrant acidity and fine texture with the depth and longevity expected from Corton’s historic slopes.

Tasting Notes
Pale and luminous in appearance, the wine opens with an elegant bouquet of citrus fruits, white flowers and subtle wet-stone minerality. On the palate, it is taut and layered, driven by lively acidity and a refined, silky texture. The finish is long, dry and distinctly mineral, with impressive clarity and tension. This is a wine with excellent cellaring potential and should gain further complexity with bottle age while retaining its freshness and precision.

Production
The fruit comes from Domaine Chandon de Briailles’ historic parcels on the Corton hill, where the limestone-rich terroir contributes to the wine’s characteristic energy and mineral character. The domaine farms organically and biodynamically, with a strong focus on soil health and biodiversity. In the cellar, the must ferments with indigenous yeasts before a long élevage in French oak barrels, using only a limited proportion of new wood. Extended maturation on the fine lees builds texture and complexity while preserving the vineyard’s natural tension and terroir expression.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 11–13°C, allowing the wine to open gradually in the glass. It is an excellent match for refined seafood, shellfish, delicate fish dishes and poultry prepared with subtle cream-based sauces. Decanting is not essential for a young bottle, but 30–60 minutes in a decanter can help reveal its aromatic layers and soften its youthful structure.
