Domaine Chandon de Briailles, Corton 2022 White

Domaine Chandon de Briailles’ Corton 2022 Blanc is a refined expression of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, combining bright freshness with the depth and mineral character associated with Corton’s celebrated terroir. Produced by a historic family domaine established in 1834, it reflects a biodynamic approach and a philosophy of minimal intervention, allowing the vineyard’s character to shine through.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a luminous, pale golden appearance. Its aromas are fresh and precise, with notes of citrus, white flowers and a subtle saline quality that adds complexity. On the palate, it is elegant and finely structured, balancing lively acidity with delicate mineral nuances and a silky texture. Further depth develops with time on the lees, and the wine should reward cellaring over the medium to long term as its aromas and texture become more layered.

Production
The domaine is located in the Côte de Beaune and farms 13.7 hectares of vineyards according to biodynamic principles. The grapes are gently harvested and undergo vertical pressing before fermentation in 10-hectolitre oak vats, with demi-muids used where appropriate. The wine is then matured in the same vessels for 20 to 30 months, allowing it to gain texture and complexity while preserving its freshness and sense of place.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at approximately 11–13°C. Its citrus-driven freshness, saline minerality and refined texture make it an excellent partner for grilled or poached fish, shellfish, scallops, roast poultry and delicate cream-based dishes. It can be enjoyed without decanting when young, although a short decant of 20–30 minutes may help reveal additional aromatic depth; older bottles are best opened carefully and served directly after settling.

Domaine Chandon de Briailles has been in the same family since 1834 and is based in the Côte de Beaune, one of Burgundy’s most distinguished wine regions. Under the direction of Claude and François de Nicolay, the estate has been fully biodynamic since 2005, with a strong emphasis on respect for tradition, vineyard health and minimal intervention. Its wines are widely regarded for their finesse, precision and ability to express their origins, earning a place on the lists of acclaimed restaurants and specialist wine merchants.
