Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet Fixin Villages 2023 is an elegant Burgundy red that showcases the refined, savoury character of Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits. Fixin is one of the northernmost appellations of the Côte de Nuits, valued for producing structured yet approachable wines with excellent regional expression.

Tasting Notes
Bright ruby in colour, the wine opens with inviting aromas of red cherries, raspberries and wild berries, complemented by subtle floral, earthy and lightly spicy notes. On the palate, it is fresh and finely textured, combining juicy red fruit with gentle tannins and a pleasantly savoury finish. The 2023 vintage offers appealing fruit and balance, making the wine enjoyable in its youth while allowing it to develop additional earthy and forest-floor complexity over the next few years. It should drink well from around 2025 through the late 2020s, depending on storage conditions and personal preference.

Production
Produced from Pinot Noir in the Fixin appellation of Burgundy, where the cooler northern Côte de Nuits climate and limestone-rich soils help preserve freshness while lending the wines structure and mineral character. The grapes are vinified with the aim of expressing the site and vintage, resulting in a Burgundy red that balances vibrant fruit, fine tannins and savoury depth.

Food & Serving
Serve slightly cool, around 14–16°C, with roast chicken, duck, pork tenderloin, mushroom dishes, coq au vin or earthy vegetarian cuisine. Its freshness also makes it a natural partner for charcuterie and soft, moderately mature cheeses. Decanting is not essential for this youthful Fixin, although 20–30 minutes in a carafe can help open the aromas before serving.
