Description
Di Majo Norante Ramitello Biferno Rosso 2021 is a characterful red from Molise, crafted from carefully selected Montepulciano and Aglianico grapes grown on the Ramitello vineyard in Campomarino. It offers the kind of depth, structure, and regional identity that makes this southern Italian cru especially appealing to lovers of expressive, food-friendly reds.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red color with good concentration. The nose is typically led by ripe dark berries, plum, and cherry, with supporting notes of spice, dried herbs, and a subtle earthy edge from the region’s warm, coastal-influenced climate.
On the palate, the wine is medium- to full-bodied with firm but approachable tannins and lively acidity that keep the fruit fresh and focused. Montepulciano brings generosity and roundness, while Aglianico adds backbone and complexity. It should drink well now, but a few years of cellaring may bring extra nuance and softer tannins.
Production
This cru comes from the Ramitello vineyard in Campomarino, where the grapes are selected from the best parcels of Montepulciano and Aglianico. Molise’s terroir combines sun exposure, coastal influences, and soils well suited to structured red wines, helping the fruit ripen fully while retaining freshness. The wine is made with careful vineyard selection and traditional vinification focused on preserving the character of the blend and the personality of the site.
Food & Serving
Serve this wine with hearty dishes such as roasted lamb, grilled beef, game, tomato-based pasta, or aged cheeses. A serving temperature of 16–18°C is ideal. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended, especially if opened young, to allow the aromas and tannins to open up fully.
Producer
Di Majo Norante is one of Molise’s most respected producers and has played an important role in bringing attention to this small but promising Italian region. Known for championing native varieties and estate-grown fruit, the winery has built a strong reputation for wines that combine tradition, regional authenticity, and quality craftsmanship.
