Description

Delouvin Nowack Champagne Les Chaillets Loupette Blanc de Noirs Brut Nature is a pure, terroir-driven expression of Pinot Meunier from the heart of Champagne. Crafted with zero dosage, it offers an unadorned look at the character of both grape and site, making it a compelling choice for enthusiasts who appreciate precision and authenticity. This cuvée draws on the region’s long history of grower Champagne, where small family estates champion single-vineyard bottlings over mass production.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Les Chaillets Loupette shows a luminous, pale copper-gold hue with a fine, persistent bead. The nose is intricate and expressive, layering ripe orchard fruits—pear, yellow apple and Mirabelle plum—with hints of wild strawberry, citrus zest, white flowers, and a subtle touch of brioche and crushed chalk. On the palate, this Blanc de Noirs is taut, dry and focused, with the natural richness of Pinot Meunier framed by a firm, saline backbone. Expect flavours of baked apple, redcurrant, blood orange and stone fruit, supported by vibrant acidity and a chalky mineral tension that drives the wine through a long, precise finish. The Brut Nature style emphasizes purity and structure rather than sweetness, making every detail of the fruit and terroir clearly visible. Enjoy it now for its energy and lift, or cellar it for 3–6 years to gain additional complexity, nutty depth and textural roundness.

Production
Les Chaillets Loupette is sourced from carefully tended Pinot Meunier vines in the Champagne region of France, where limestone-rich subsoils and cool climatic influences help preserve freshness and finesse. The parcels behind this cuvée are typically farmed with an eye toward low yields and healthy, ripe fruit, often using sustainable or lutte raisonnée practices to respect the vineyard’s natural balance. Grapes are harvested by hand at optimal maturity to ensure careful selection and intact berries on arrival at the press. Vinification follows a traditional Champagne method, with gentle pressing, fermentation in temperature-controlled vessels (and in some cases a mix of stainless steel and old barrels), followed by extended aging on the lees to build texture and complexity. No dosage is added at disgorgement, resulting in a Brut Nature style that lets the terroir and the character of Pinot Meunier speak clearly.

Food & Serving
This Brut Nature Champagne is particularly versatile at the table, thriving alongside dishes that highlight freshness, texture and delicate richness. Try it with oysters, scallop crudo, sashimi, or simple grilled white fish, as well as charcuterie, pâté en croûte, young hard cheeses, and roasted poultry with herbs. It can also stand up beautifully to lightly spiced Asian cuisine and vegetable-driven dishes such as roasted root vegetables or mushroom tart. Serve well-chilled at 8–10°C (46–50°F). A brief 10–15 minutes in a decanter or simply allowing the wine to open in the glass will help unfurl its aromatic complexity and soften the initial tension on the palate.

Producer
Delouvin Nowack is a family-run grower estate in Champagne, known for its commitment to crafting characterful, vineyard-focused wines from its own vines rather than purchased fruit. Rooted in generations of viticulture, the domaine has gradually moved toward a more artisanal, terroir-driven approach, placing particular emphasis on Pinot Meunier—one of the region’s most historic yet often underappreciated varieties. Within its local area of the Champagne region, Delouvin Nowack has earned a reputation among insiders and sommeliers for precise, low-dosage and no-dosage bottlings that highlight individual parcels and soil types. This focus on authenticity, combined with careful vineyard work and thoughtful cellar practices, has made the estate a noteworthy name in the growing movement of independent, quality-driven Champagne producers.
