De Temery Limoux Rouge 2019 is a bold red from one of southern France’s most intriguing wine regions, offering depth, structure, and a distinctly artisanal feel. While Limoux is best known for its white wines, this small-production red shows the region’s ability to craft serious, characterful blends, with Merlot at the core and support from Syrah, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark colour that hints at its concentration and ripe fruit profile. The nose is rich and inviting, with aromas of blackberries, plums, and dark cherries layered with spice, subtle oak, and a touch of earthy complexity. On the palate, it is full-bodied and smooth, with the Merlot bringing roundness and fruit-forward appeal, while Syrah, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon add structure, dark spice, and firmness. Ten months in Allier oak gives the wine added depth and a polished finish, and it should continue to evolve nicely over the next few years.

Made in Limoux, in the southwest of France, this wine reflects a region with a cool-climate influence balanced by southern French ripeness. De Temery works with strong respect for nature, using non-natural aids only when absolutely necessary, a philosophy that also helps maintain healthier vineyards. The 2019 vintage is a carefully composed blend of Merlot, Syrah, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon, matured for 10 months in Allier oak barrels to build texture and complexity.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile red that works well with grilled beef, lamb, roast chicken, game, and rich vegetarian dishes such as mushroom risotto or lentil stew. Serve it at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if you want to soften the tannins and open up the aromas.
